Course Objective:
The goal of this qualification is to populate the Health sector with a skilled, flexible and effective workforce whilst maintaining high quality and safe care for patients. It provides opportunities for staff to formally qualify within the Health sector to undertake a range of Clinical Healthcare/Support tasks. This programme is aimed at those who support adults within a clinical healthcare setting. Examples of qualifying clinical tasks include preparing individuals for healthcare activities, obtaining and testing specimens from individuals, providing support to manage pain and discomfort, undertaking agreed pressure area care and supporting individuals to meet personal care needs.
Course Delivery:
An assessor will visit the candidate at their workplace once a month for a minimum of 2 hours. Observations will be agreed between the learner and assessor and it is the responsibility of the learner to liaise with their employer for this to take place within the workplace. In addition, underpinning knowledge of the units will need to be provided by the learner in the form of written questions, completed workbooks, reflective accounts, etc. The learner will be expected to spend at least 6 hours per week completing work before the next monthly meeting with their assessor.
